Thanks to Kelly

I was having trouble uploading pictures, when a friend reminded me of our blog.  (Glad someone remembered about this thing.)  Thanks to Kelly you'll all be getting some updated pictures of Maya.  She's been pretty busy since her birthday.  We have some walking videos we'll try to post in the next week as well.

Maya is very excited about her chickens.  Every morning she wants to check on them and help her daddy feed them.  Easily 20 times a day she asks, "Eggs?  Eggs?" to see if we'll go check for eggs with her.

Our Speedy, Baby Elephant spent under 4 minutes in her Halloween costume.  It didn't help that I had made it out of a fleece sweatshirt, and it was one of the hottest Halloween weeks in years.

Playing in the leaves & free of her costume!

Playing peek-a-boo with our neighbor Julian.
(She loves Julian & he's the only reason I was able to distract her long enough to snap a couple Halloween costume pictures.)

Maya's Busy Weekend (6 months 2 weeks)

Maya doing her worm/butterfly stroke/scoot.
"I'm coming for you!"

This weekend Maya started exploring a crate of toys.

Pulling up to the crate (just want to nibble those little pea toes)
Holding tight so she can get to the goods.  (This is one of the crates Jessi's parents made & she used to play in when she was a baby.)

Ahhh... now she can pick out the best ones!

Helping Daddy make dinner

To our surprise, we turned around to this!  (Guess we won't be turning our backs to this monkey anymore!)
Very wobbly on her feet, but on her feet all the same.

We Want Videos

Okay, okay.  We've heard your demands.  Here they are.
Feel free to fast forward, mute, or just plain skip them.

(We'll work on getting higher quality ones uploaded next time)

Baby Maya is Born

Friday night we were dying to hold our little baby, so we decided to encourage her out with a walk to dinner and a long walk following.  The next morning Jessi was in labor.  Her mom (Corinne), sister (Adrienne), & sister's fiance (Atticus) hopped in their cars and headed to Carrboro from Virginia.  They labored at home all day Saturday with Chris' constant support, Corinne using massage to make Jessi more comfortable, Adrienne using her midwifery knowledge to turn the baby into an easier birthing position, and Atticus in the kitchen whipping up delicious food for everyone.

We went once to the birth center late Saturday night to get checked out, but returned home to get some rest.   By 4 am we returned to the Birth Center with contractions very close together and within 2 hours our little baby was born.

Maya Ovadia Grass was born at 5:50 AM Sunday (8/12/12).  She weighed 7 pounds 1 ounce and was 19.5 inches long.

minutes after Maya was born

We stayed at the birth center long enough to get a little nap and for the staff to approve everyone's vitals.  Around noon we headed home to rest and recover in comfort.

Our birth team was amazing and we appreciated the birth center's support through our pregnancy and birth so we could bring home a wonderful, healthy little girl.

Back to Blogging

We've hit a dry spell since we first started a blog 4 years ago, Italy Wedding Adventure, where we shared stories and pictures of our wedding travels.  With the arrival of our daughter, Maya, we feel it is time to start a fresh blog to keep family and friends updated with pictures, etc.

If you're looking for childcare advice or silly anecdotes, you've come to the wrong place.  Instead expect to be drowned pictures of our little girl.  We will make no efforts to curb the obnoxious posts of pictures so we can share her latest photos with all of our out of town, great-grandparents, grandparents, family & friends.

You can either avoid this page like the plague, visit it in small doses, or you can be notified every time we make a new post.  If you are interested in getting updated when we make a new post to our blog, check out our next post, "Stalking Grasses."

Much love,Chris, Jessi, & Maya
